Badgr2.0 - not working?
August 24th, 2006
This is a brief post for anyone who’s wondering why Badgr, idFindr, Polkr and Constructr aren’t working
For some reason all of the mentalaxis flickr applications are being refused connection to Flickr servers.
I am working hard in an attempt to find out the details of this problem and get it fixed as soon as possible, I have recieved no word from Flickr or any other notification, so I’m still trying to find out why this has happend.
I would hope that the problems are all solved in the next 48 hours.
More details as I get them, and please accept my apologies.
can you Digg it?
is it del.icio.us?

it seems Badgr is still using the old url to the crossdomain policy file instead of using the new api.flickr.com
http://api.flickr.com/crossdomain.xml
cheers,
mario

Hi,
Are you using Flashr to build Badgr? I posted an advanced warning about this on the Flashr mailing list last Wednesday to try and spread the word,
Cheers,
Kelvin :)

Hi Kelvin,
Cheers, unfortunately I wasn’t subscribed to either the Flickr API mailing list or the osflash mailing list, so I missed out on the warnings.
Thanks to Mario I managed to get it fixed quite quickly, Flashr is used for Badgr and the Flex stuff, idFindr and Constructr use Darron Schall’s AS3 flickr library.
I’ll be signing up to both the osflash and flickr api mailing lists before the day is out.

Hi Jason,
Cool, hopefully there won’t be any more surprises like that but it’s good to be on the lists anyway!
By the way, badgr is really cool and I especially like the Constructr!
On a side note, not sure if you read the license Flashr is released under but it requires attribution where it is used - could you add a note and a link to the badgr page?
Cheers,
Kelvin :)

Cheers Kelvin,
I’d put attribution on the original badgr page, but forgot to add it to the new page with the constructr.
Sorry about that.

Hi Jason,
No worries - thanks for sorting it out :) Would it be too much to ask you to link the attribution back to http://flashr.kelvinluck.com ?
Cheers,
Kelvin :)

Are you planning on making the source available for this tool? It’s really great (and thanks!), but I’d like to change the links to point to my own site where I display my sets, and that doesn’t seem like the type of thing you would implement parameters for in the Constructr.
Tried to email you directly but I can’t find any address :)

Sorry, Changing the links would violate the Flickr Terms of Service.
